The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Adopted by all member countries of the United Nations in 2015, the 17 SDGs emphasize that development must integrate social, economic and environmental sustainability.
Though all the 17 SDGs can be linked to the environment, goals 6, 7, 11, 13, 14 and 15 directly relate to it. And though the goals call for global partnership among member countries, individuals, too, have a role to play.
